IOWA STATE FAIR

Just a reminder.....Iowa State Fair "Class of 83" social gathering. The Depot around 6ish. Like last year, this will be the first Saturday night... August 15th. Same spot, the picnic tables on the east side of the Depot.

Stay tuned for info on our class dinner in October. Looks as if the majority wants to wait until our 30th for an official class reunion..so until then lets keep our State Fair and Class dinner going.

Same plan as last year....a few cold cocktails, great conversation, and a night cap at a bar...(not going until 4am this year, took 2 weeks to recover) Spread the word around and see you on the 15th. Depot or bust.

October Reunion = Great Time!

I'd like to thank Linda Diment for arranging a great time at Christopher's in October. We had a great time recalling memories, catching up with everyone's lives, and enjoying Christopher's fine dining. In addition, we remembered our recently lost classmate, Tom Wilson, with a special toast. After hours of laughter, reminiscing, dinner and a group photo, we headed to the Waveland. In Hoover tradition, we lasted until last call. It really was a great time! Thanks to all who attended.

We decided to make the Iowa State Fair outing a permanent event. Every year, the first Saturday of the fair will be Hoover Class of '83 Night. We will meet at the Depot (west of the Varied industries Building) for a mini-reunion. We also discussed a 26th reunion to be held next year. If you would like to be involved, please contact Chris Walters, Linda Diment, Jeff Debartolo, or P.J. Heinz.

Keep posted, as I will try to update this with plans, contact info, etc.

Go Huskies!

August plans

Well, by an overwhelming majority, the July dates have been eliminated. I am still waiting to hear back from some venues, but the reunion will be on one of the August dates. It was about even as far as preference for the August dates. I'll post the details as soon as possible.

I also need to update some addresses. I will post a list of "missing" classmates once the list is complete. Please forward this site or my e-mail to others so we all have the information we need.

If you have an announcement or something you would like to share with other classmates, feel free to e-mail me and I'll post it on the site. You may also post comments, if you'd like.

Give me another week, and I'll have some details for you. Thanks for your patience.

Music from Mike Aceto

Hi folks:

I'm proud to announce that my new CD, "Leftovers: Adventures In Cellophane" is now available for download to your iPod, .mp3 player, and/or computer to burn CD's. My first solo release, "Chapters" is also available in the same format.

"Leftovers" features a variety of musical styles, ranging from rock to country to pop to blues. There's something in it for everyone. On the download portion of my website, you have the option of previewing sound clips of each song. Purchasing options include either buying the entire album or picking and choosing your favorite tracks, however when you buy the album, you receive digital copies of the CD cover and liner notes (in addition to a 22% savings as opposed to purchasing the tracks individually). The .mp3 format for both albums was done at the highest sampling and compression rates available to provide you with the best-quality download possible. The website offers secure checkout and accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal.

For previews and purchases, go to http://www.mikeaceto.com/downloads.cfm.

Enjoy the music and thanks so much to all of you for your continued support. Hope to see you soon!

25th Reunion Plans

Well, folks, our planning meeting wasn't too well attended, but I'm still willing to head this up. I had several e-mails from those who were too far away to attend or had other plans for the day, but I really need a few people to step up to help put this all together as I know I can't do it alone.

I'm going to throw out a few dates to see which weekend works best for the majority who plan to attend. Please e-mail or call me by March 31 with your preference.

July 25-26
August 1-2
August 8-9 (during Iowa State Fair)

Tenative plans are a golf outing on Friday and a Saturday evening semi-formal dinner with a dance to follow. Other activities may be added later- my kids would love a day at Adventureland or a waterpark!

Chris Costa has agreed to head up the golf outing. Please contact him (chris.costa@knappproperties.com) if you'd like to assist.

I will be planning the dinner/dance. I will check with Hoyt Sherman Place (site of our last reunion) and local hotels for available dates and prices. Any suggestions for menus, DJs or bands is appreciated. Please let me know if you would like to help plan the Saturday night event.

We welcome all suggestions, comments, and tips. Please give us your input now in the early stages of planning so we can host a reunion that has something for everyone.

It's our 25th- something special- so let's try to make it our best attended reunion!
